Being the youngest girl child and poor, she was denied education and married off at 18 years. Within a year she delivered a baby girl and her husband took to drinking and physical abuse. Soon she got pregnant again and miscarried due to constant physical abuse,

After filing a complaint to women police and a failed lawful case she gave birth to her third child, a son. Her husband still continued to be a burden and she left him to stay with her parents.

Thereafter, she got her daughter to join Tinka karate classes. When she joined the classes her father and brother opposed and asked her to leave. By then she had made up her mind and moved out with her kids. Shakti has come into her own now and is a karate national gold medalist along with a trainer under one of the projects at Tinka. She has also found a family in Tinka wherein she gets support and understanding.
Tinka is guiding and strengthening many such women and girls! They are our warriors, our fighters, who do not back down in the face of adversity and continue to be a beacon of hope and inspiration to others around them!

Myself Chanda (name changed),from a poor family of 7 and the youngest. I have been a victim of sexual abuse, since an adolescent age, in my own home by close family relatives. This continued till almost recent (until i turned 19). I was threatened into silence and went into depression and became suicidal. My mentors at Tinka gave me courage to share my ordeal with my mother and they also spoke to my family. Tinka team has stood behind me like a rock and now since my parents and family are aware the abusers can't come to the home and I now feel safe in my own home. Through working at Tinka I have gained confidence and safe space to flourish, to write effectively, as well as give wings to my creative expression. I still struggle with mental health concerns due to the impact of the abuse, but I am determined to empower others. I have made it my mission to spread the work of Tinka, using karate as a medium for self defense and to teach girls about gender equality, eradication of sexual harassment and various other social topics that plague a GIRL CHILD today.I have joined NCC at college and want to be a police officer in the future.

Khushi Rajput

After losing her mother in an accident in 2010, she and her brother were left to fend for themselves without any support. Things got even worse when her father became paralyzed and passed away in 2012. Khushi was forced to live with her uncle and aunt, who only cared about her for their financial gains. They put her in a hostel where she found her passion for sports and even won bronze medals in 3 SGFI tournaments. However, her aunt didn't want her to pursue her dreams and taunted her constantly. Even after leaving the hostel and living with her aunt, Khushi refused to give up on her education and joined college and martial arts classes. But when her uncle beat her and threatened to burn her, she decided enough was enough and left to stay with a friend. Once due to harassment by the coach, Khushi had given up sports in other ways but when she visited Tinka she realized that not all places and people are the same and after that she joined sports again.Despite all these challenges, Khushi didn't give up on her dreams and found hope and support at Tinka Samajik Sansthan. She now teaches self-defense to more than 1100 girls and boys in her karate class and has even been selected for the prestigious Care Leavers Fellowship. Khushi is grateful to Ritesh and Mana for giving her the confidence to achieve her goals and for finding the family she needed after her parents passed away. Her story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of hope and determination to overcome even the toughest challenges.

Jatin Rajgire

Jatin was born into a family of 6, in a small village Rahatgaon in Madhya Pradesh to a small time farmer. Being the youngest, he was shy and was afraid to talk and mingle with people. He was not interested in studies.
He would go to his village to watch wrestling and there he met a Tinka coach and trainer Mr. Anish and decided to learn karate. The mental and physical conditioning along with the weekly sessions which Tinka takes on topics that affect the children in the backward and marginalized community, bolstered courage and faith in him.
In 2019, he participated in the state tournament and won Gold and went onto play national and International tournaments in Nepal. Sometimes,he would need to work to earn fees to participate for the tournament. But this did not deter his spirit to fight and fight like a champion from his circumstances. Today he has gained confidence and can speak openly and stand up for his rights. He attributes this change in him to his training at Tinka and advocates Sports should be necessary and not a luxury!

Anupam Sangulle

This is a story of grit and perseverance. If we look around us, there is always a story waiting to be told, to inspire,to motivate us to become a better version of us and the world around us. Anupam comes from a modest background. His father drives a truck for a living and his mother is a housewife. He studied in a private school till 6th standard but due to lack of money, he had to shift to a government school thereafter,as it was not possible to pay the fees with a monthly salary of 5000/-. Anupam, from an early age knew that he needed to fend for himself and in class 7, he took up a job of distributing newspapers on a monthly wage of 800/-. There was no support from his father who would spend his earnings on drinking everyday. He got to know about karate class from his neighbour and wanted to join but his father was against it and forbade him to join any class as he felt that this would bring him more harm than any good. However, he found support from the most unlikely person, his mother! She encouraged him to follow his passion and in 2016, Anupam won a GOLD MEDAL in the national level championship held at Siroli. This win also did not please his father, who was still very against it. Anupam went on to win more accolades and medals, but there was never any acknowledgement of appreciation from his father.

Today, he is actively engaged in running Tinka centre in khirkiya and due to his hardwork and talent is now a senior trainer. The financial situation remains the same for his family as they struggle to earn a decent livelihood, butAnupam is committed to spreading the work Tinka does on empowering children by teaching them self defence and working on gender equality. He believes that Tinka changed his life for the better and made him self confident and now he wishes to do the same for his community.

Anish Kahar

Living in a small rural village and coming from a poor family, Anish was never interested in studies. Due to family financial problems he eventually dropped out of school in 8th standard and got into bad company. He would get into street fights, sell stuff to earn some money on the side, indulge in hooliganism and soon he earned himself the name ANNA! Life continued like this for a long time and it went from bad to worse. In 2017, he heard about Tinka and decided to give it a try. But there was a roadblock! One of the prerequisites to joining the training was to sign a document wherein to indulge in anti-social and illegal activities was prohibited. Anna was in a quandary and yet he decided that he needed to join. Then started Anna's transformation to Anish the Karate Teacher. Today, the same people who knew him as Anna, respect and address him as Teacher!! Anish is now a master trainer and coach and in the last few years has trained numerous children in self defence and karate and has also helped kids participate for competitions at district, state and national level.Anish is a living testament of how sports changed his life 360 degrees and that there is always HOPE. He makes it a point to teach his community and share his experiences and encourage parents around him to send their children for training and remove the mental block that usually is associated with "Sports se kya hoga?"
